    Nicely done, Martin! I've also used AutoStakkert 2 and RegiStax 6 to stack images. I'm in a tough transitional phase of my life, where I haven't been able to do much observing for quite a while, but I hope to get out in the field once again, at some point, especially now that I live so close to a dark sky site. Several of your tutorial videos are still go-to references for me, when I need a refresher on things, so thank you for doing this.

      Thank you for your positive comments, I apprieciate from my viewers who use my videos as important advice. I'm looking at making more videos on post processing, though it's not easy to do, sometimes live recordings can be nightmare, if you try to show what your doing on photoshop, sometimes the image could go wrong some where, it's very tricky to master and correct your mistakes without looking stupid in the process!! It will take some careful planning, but look out for more of these videos, at least one thing I did not cheat using AI technology, so many top Astro channels are using AI prrograms, which I feel it makes people lazy!!!

    What size are the pixels ? What sensor does it use ? How many pixels ? That is OK just went to High Point Scientific and got the information from their web site. And a movie is not good enough for a review. My views of the moon are just as good with the ZWO ASi 224MC . I do not use Sharp Cap but the app that came with the camera from ZWO web site that you have to get to turn on the camera. The results are out standing. And the post processing is so easy and comprehensive to use. Too long to watch.

Typical yet YT boosts the Astro Channels who are sponsored to give radical reviews on Astro gear we all cannot afford in real life. Everything is just a fantasy land and a total lie. Anyway yes Dobson XT8 is defo a top scope, not too big to be lugged around, and still offer plenty of light grasp, You won't be dissapointed!!

    Hi Martin, Thanks for the video. I live in St-Ives Cornwall and have a funny feeling we had a mutual friend in Mal who you mentioned at the start of your video. I could be wrong but dont think i am. I bought his equipment from his family, Ive got my own 8se and im now ready to move onto the eq mount and this OTA. If it was Mal from St-Ives (Liverpool). give me a shout. cheers pal, kyle

      Mal was a great guy, he was about to visit me last year, but he passed away that day when he was to visit me. I was totally gutted, something I can't get over it. He was a good friend to me and we talked a lot about astronomy.

      I'm glad his equipment has been given to someone who has a passion in this hobby, So I know Mals equipment is in good hands, if there is anything I can help you relating to this hobby and will help, like I did with Mal.

    Great results! That black paint looks really dark! I think Skywatcher should provide a better focuser for their achromats. Svbony offers a 90mm f5 achro with dual speed focuser that seems very interesting. Regarding energy rejection, I have used a ST120 with a lunt wedge, so no protection at the lens end and it has gone well, no melting or burning :) All in all that ST102 turned up really nicely modded! Thanks for this video, keep them coming. Clear skies! EDIT: forgot to add: I'm sure you already know, but a baader solar continuum filter helps greatly to improve sharpness and contrast in white light solar imaging.

    Well done for standing your ground Martin. Aurora are rare and its not even guaranteed when within the Arctic circle at northern latitudes. For starters have to be in correct part of the suns 11 year activity phase. Currently we are near the peak of the 11 year cycle hence sun activity is high. Then the charged particles have to actually hit the earth magnetic fields, and space is a pretty big place. Since moving to Northumberland seen the aurora several times on the coast and when at Kielder observatory. As you stated need the App and need a High KP index in the red to be visible naked eye and camera. Shame weather has been bad as missed alot

      Thanks mate, These Keyboard warriors are the biggest cowards, if you ever faced one, I've met one before, which I found out who it was through social media, made this guy looked so small, believe me I am big guy in real life and facing up to this guy, I not quite and I will voice my opinion quite clearly, he ran so quickly , I don't think he'll ever dare try it again, that's sure. Mate If there was one Keyboard warrior I could sucker punch them to the moon and back for a quid, I would be rich and retire Lol.

    Defo a lot of folks whose hobby it is to sit on the sofa dissing what other folks do and film. Flat earthers go on astro and rocket sites, creationists on fossil sites, sofa sitters going on adventure sport sites. All I can say is these are very sad people who never helped another soul, you do your thing, and help other folks. Cheers Martin.

    I haven't been watching your channel very long stuff a few days but I haven't enjoyed it immensely. I usually watch a channel for a while before I join. I wanna see if I like it, you know. Wave value is the information that someone is providing Has a lot of value for enhancing the hobby, And you're channeled as you take a lot of time and while I'm at work. Thank you very much. So I'm going to be hanging around your channel quite sometime.

      Welcome aboard Michael! I honour what you have to say!! I too wouldn't jump in and sub to channel, I used to sub to the bigger Astro channels now turned out to be fakers, biggest liars and above all they lost complete touch when they used to have this real passion for the hobby!! I noticed that some of these Astro channels have bought subs to gain further onto UA-cam, there so many have done it and cheated their way, there is no way they made above 30K in 2 years, I've been on UA-cam for over 8 years with just merely 9K of subs. I have not bought any subs nor views, this is my 100% real sub count, which clearly shows that loyalty is within my subscribers, they are one's who have supported my channel through years, which so many of bigger Astro channels have forgotten who put them there in the first place, some of these big shot Astro channels will never have what I have!!!

    • @MPAstro
      @MPAstro Місяць тому

      Totally but even slapping them won't work, they only hate more. The only reason why they disregard the Auroras, is that they are too lazy to even look up, even though it's happening around in their area. All thanks to the latest smart telescopes and technology have made them lazy to even just set up. And all thanks to all these top Astro channels who promote this smart telescopes saga!!

      Always!!! I make sure of that my subs and viewers deserve the real content. I have unsubbed from alot of top Astro channels, who have completely lost touch from the true passion they originally started off. It seems now they can afford to be paid alot money in sponsors, donations and be able to make videos for a living with Luxury expensive Astro equipment simply thrown at them for them to make lies and trick our viewers. It seems a complete joke for the smaller Astro channels who are trying their hardest just to even get monetised!!!
